The Daily Chuckle
Jun. 19th, 2003 01:38 pmHoroscopes... sometimes you just have to give a belly-laugh.
A couple nights ago, I came very close to passing out from low blood sugar. (It's really hard to keep my blood sugar balanced right now, and "tired, dizzy and weak" is my default condition.) The room was spinning, and I was clutching my chair with one hand while gulping rice milk & orange juice with the other, to get my blood sugar back into the 'good zone' so I could stabilize it with some good ol' cashew-macadamia nut butter. It occurred to me that if I passed out near a hard object and hit my head or otherwise hurt myself and couldn't get to a phone, nobody would know anything was amiss. Therefore, Renfroe now has my spare set of keys, and will be calling me to "check in" if he doesn't hear from me each day. (All hail Renfroe, for he is a rockin' pal.) Another effect of being hypothyroid is that I'm very "fuzzy-headed" and am having trouble forming coherent thoughts, much less sentences. My discussion board participation has been limited to "Yeah, I did that too. Wow."
So, pipin' hot from the Inbox comes this:
Greetings Katrina --
Here is your horoscope for Thursday, June 19:
Right now your mind is wandering. You'll like wherever you end up, since it was obviously where you were meant to be. Leave the keys in responsible hands before you go woolgathering.
Ayup.
ACK!

Date: 2003-06-19 05:37 pm (UTC)I'm hypoglycemic too, except when pregnant. Then I'm diabetic. Whee! (By all the gods and goddesses ever worshipped, do I ever have respect for anyone who has to live with diabetes... the kind that doesn't go away once you have the baby.)
Yeah, the near-fainting really sucked. The only other time I've been that close to passing out was the first (and last) time I attended a party where the point was to get drunk... that's where I discovered my very very low tolerance for alcohol... and puked until 6 am, then was sick for three days.
Room spins, edges of vision going black, that whole "flying where I don't want to fly" feeling... ugh. It scared me.
I just ate a ton of couscous (with garlic, olive oil, slivered almonds, and my All-Purpose™ balsamic vinaigrette), so the blood sugar should be good for tonight!

My sick mind
Sorry, I'll go take my medications now :-)
