Better. With food, life is better. I feel a little worn out, like I did after surgery, but not too bad.

Breakfast:
Raspberry herbal tea
Raisins
Good enough. This is more like my usual breakfast: something warm and something small and snacklike. Would be better if the tea were caffeinated.

Lunch:
one rice cake with almond butter (ugh)
raisins
one "chicken breast" Once I heated it and took a bite, I realized it was that "chopped to pieces then glued back together" stuff, which is iffy because it may have been injected with broth. I gave the cheese from the "chicken breast" sandwich to Renfroe, in return for the tomatoes from his sandwich, and threw the bread away. The meat was filling.

Dinner:
matzot with sicilian pesto spread Damn, these are the biggest saltines I've ever seen! Except they have no salt! They're good though.

So yeah, I bought three boxes of matzot. I also happened upon some tortilla chips that, miraculously enough, don't have any of the "naughty" ingredients. I bought all four bags (all they had out). I got uniodized salt, and lots more produce.

All the local bakeries use iodized salt. Suck. I'll have to bake my own bread.

So for bread... this might be a stupid question, but are there any truly kosher bakeries in your area? If I remember correctly, iodized salt is not used in kosher bakeries... but then, I might be mistaken. It's been a while since the subject came up around me, seeing as I lost my Jewish newspaper job before the last High Holidays. (chuckle, shrug) Might be worth looking into or might not; fresh, home-baked bread is almost always worth the trouble. ;)

Nope. Nothing of that sort around here... lacking a synagogue or temple, we don't have much of an observant Jewish population.

After Friday (my last day of work), I can start baking my own bread, so that'll be good.

Geez. By Frigga, you must live in some serious boonies. There are towns here in Texas with a population of only a few thousand that still have Orthodox Jews in enough of a population to need a regular rabbi. Texas, for pity's sake.
