*chortle* actually i found diagramming sentences to be a chore and i couldn't tell you wtf a gerund is if my life depended on it. but, at least i know such a thing as a gerund exists, heh heh. isn't it some sort of noun?

A gerund is a verb-form that functions as a noun. For instance: singing.

They were singing. Singing is a verb.

We loved their singing. Singing in a noun. A gerund, actually.
