Has anyone had experience, good or bad, with registering/trasferring domain names through GoDaddy.com?

www.wordinc.org and www.homeword.org are registered through NetworkSolutions (aka charge me ridiculous amounts of money for terrible contract terms). My charitable guess is that the domain was registered before there were many alternatives to NSI. The registrations expire mid-April 2006 and we're getting high-pressure "renew for nine years and save TONS" e-and-paper-mailings.

I'd like to transfer the registration, but want to make sure I'm not getting us into badness. I've read good things about GoDaddy. Does anyone have input?

I've heard reasonable things about godaddy.com (which is more than I can say about network solutions). I've always used gandi.net, which works fine, but I've never had to do anything complicated.

I have used GoDaddy for numerous domains, and am very happy with their easy to use service.

I've heard good and band things about GoDaddy. This is an incident that got a lot of coverage on various geek related mailing lists. (Dave McGuire is something of a geekdom icon. He made an assload of money from the IPO of an ISP he spent a number of years at.

Dean does domain name registration and hosting through his geekspotsolutions.com webpage. You could talk to him about rates for WORD.

Talk to him at deanpage at gmail dot com

Also check out Dreamhost.com. I've been with them for a whole and presently they're having a quadruple your diskspace and bandthwidth usage sale.

I too love Dreamhost. Been with them so long that I essentially have the bandwidth of God. Now if I only had something the world wanted to use that bandwidth. I don't like them for Domain registration, though.

I only use godaddy.com for everything regarding domain registration.
