Do you think it's a bad sign when you shudder at the grammatical and punctuation errors on the website of your children's elementary school? :-\

I found and printed the elementary school calendar (when they're in, when they're out). Small steps to knowing what the hell is going on before it happens..

Breaking news: I have a headache.

Well, that depends. Is it a bad sign for you? No. Is it a bad sign for your kids? Not if you want them to grow up with writing like a Dave Barry satire. I'm thinking of picking something out from their Breakfast/Lunch Menu's [sic]... perhaps I'll "try" their hot dog's?

Hehehehehe... Sorry, I know this really isn't funny, but I can't help but to chuckle.

If it's any consolation, I have been known to call the school to tell them it was bad for their PR and my blood pressure when they couldn't send something home from school that was documentable proof of their incompetence as pedagogues (yes, I heard scrambling for the dictionary) and their personal lack of education.

I even offered to edit for them.

Yeah--they LOVED me.

Oh, and by the way...

Unless this website is run by fourth graders, you may want to think about doing the same.

I don't think I have ever seen anything quite THIS appalling.

Ain't it amazing?

I don't think that complaining would get me very far. The principal and I "don't get on well." Amazingly enough, she stopped with the head-pats and other demeaning behavior after I vented our history to the Dean of the School of Education.

I doubt the site is done by fourth-graders, but I'd believe it if MCPS told me so. The site was created with FrontPage. *makes signs to ward off evil*

Happily enough, the kids seem to be getting a decent education. I have no doubts about the qualifications of their teachers... this year. (Last year, I was appalled and speechless when James' teacher waved her hand airily and said "Oh, I don't know anything about dinosaurs! Science just isn't really my thing!" You're teaching second grade and you don't know dinosaurs, and think you can get by with "Science isn't my thing??????") *ahem*

Could be worse: She could have dismissed dinosaurs as "a lie of Satan, designed to lead people astray from the Word of God."

I'm yet to hear that one here, but it wouldn't surprise me in Hardin County, Ohio.

A teacher waves har hand and says, "Science isn't my thing..."

Translation from Politically Correct to English:

"Dinosaurs are a lie of Satan, designed to lead people astray from the Word of God."

Whadaya wanna bet? ;)

Well, that one wouldn't have surprised me from that teacher, either! ;-)

She was very nice... but... it's SCIENCE!! How can you NOT be into Science when you're teaching 2nd grade??

I do not understand.
