Shoes.

I'm not a big "shoe" person. I'm not into shopping for shoes, and I pretty much have two pairs of shoes I wear: my hiking/working boots and my flip-flops.

However. I want.

Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] 64tbird, I think, for the recommendation!

"Imagine a diva hitting the hiking trail..."

Yeah. Now imagine the diva in the emergency room with two broken ankles.

The boots are nifty; the ad text is bothersome.

I'm imagining the diva teetering along the tops of concrete forms for foundation walls (the walking surface is the inner half of a 2"x4" plus the 3/4" edge of some plywood), then balancing herself on said very narrow walking surface, slick with spilled wet concrete, and inserting a long narrow shovel into the 9" form to scoop out extra concrete... and keeping her balance during gusts of wind. (This is what I did last week. My hiking boots worked, but I was wishing for some *really* intense lug soles for extra traction!)

Huh. "Fuck me boots" for the outdoor set. Very nice. :)

THOSE are HOT.

And I think they would suit you perfectly.

Ah, yes. The fashionistas wear those with their silk cargo pants or capris. The ones with the drawstrings at the ankles.

You'd make them look good, darlin'.

Yeah, while searching for a better-made pair than Target sells (the reviews said they really hurt the feet and fell apart easily), I found a few comments saying "Oh my God, these are SOOO last year." Of course, being in Montana and not watching TV, I've never seen anything like them before!

I found a couple of pairs on zappos.com that are very similar and even cuter. They didn't have my size in the brown color for the pointed-toe style... but I found a pair of black round-toe 'high-heeled workboots' that I just adore. Still looking and deciding, as I really can't afford them this week. (I heart weekly paychecks. Much easier to delay gratification when I can say "I'll see how things look next week" instead of "maybe nexg month.")

I hate those "so last year" people. They'd probably say the jeans and t-shirt I'm wearing now are soooo 30 years ago.

The shoes won't be so last year .... until next year. I never saw them anywhere until last spring, in the stores, on the street, or on TV.

They're faddish, but they'll still hold up well under long pants. It's really in right now to see a pointy toed and spiky heeled boot peeking out from out under otherwise too-long jeans or slacks.

I hesitate to buy anything faddish, because I wear my clothes until they no longer fit or fall to bitty pieces. (i have a few shirts that are falling to said bitty bits, but that I still wear because I love them.)

One reason I'm favoring the black round-toe boots is that they're less extreme (that very-pointy toe screams "I'll be sitting in the back of the closet for twenty years until this toe style looks anythiung but hideous again.")

We'll see if these images work:

I want these in brown. While the pink ones are just too cute, they lose the "hey check it, I'm a workboot" effect.

I am truly in love with the black ones here...

This is a similar style.

.... and in the "practical shoes" department, I really want these to replace my current workboots (Columbia hikers), which are quickly showing signs of "Oh my God, I was not made for this kind of abuse!"

Oh, how I love Zappos. And their sales.

I have to make myself delete their emails now. My closets and my budget can't handle any more shoes. Until I clean out my closets... hehehe.

I should also mention that the second set of boots are awesome.

Damn Zappos and their big selection and easy return policy! Damn them and damn temptation!!!
