Nobody offered to lift anything for me. Nobody asked "Are you sure you handle that?" I was asked to lend a hand several times. HOOYAH! I told Neighbor-Dan, when we were talking about me starting on the crew, that I'd prefer my gender not even be noticed. I want to be part of the crew, not "the woman/girl on the crew." I don't want special treatment, and the fact that I'm not being offered any favors means that either they can't stand me or that they know I can do the work. They're all friendly though, so I think they like me just fine. ;-)

I wasn't as sore this morning as I was yesterday morning, despite the fact that I busted my ass yesterday. Today wasn't as physically difficult. I "broomed concrete" some more, but also did a lot of driving around to fetch parts and tools.

Note to Missoulians: Bodell Construction is "good people." They treat their employees with respect. I have to admit, I do enjoy the admiring looks I get from the three women working in the main office (desk jobs) when I walk in, all sweaty and dirt-covered, to get tools from the shop.

I'm getting a nasty-bad cold. I'm only working a part-day tomorrow though, then taking off the rest of the day and Fridy, for my scar touch-up surgery.

I just wanted to say that I think you are kicking major ass doing this. Just don't get yourself hurt.

I'm being careful. An injury means time off the job, and that means losing money. I placed a call to my doc to get stronger inhalers after my first day, because the smoke is still getting thicker and thicker. I need this job, therefore I need to stay healthy so I can do this job.

Having said that, this morning I feel like the underside of someone's shoe. Fucking cold. Thank God I'm only working 4 hours, in the cool of the morning.

My stepdad is a construction worker, and we all know that he's a major asshole. That doesn't have a whole lot to do with the trade, though. I do respect him because he's done this job for twenty-some years and, at age 42, is still very muscular, fit, and strong. He also knows a little bit of something about fixing everything, which comes in handy around the house!

Good for you, Katrina. I am SO PROUD of you. Keep up the good work!
