Your Mother Wears Construction Boots
Aug. 9th, 2003 06:58 pmMy kids are taking my new hardhat around the neighborhood, bragging "My mommy is a construction worker!" They utterly are in awe of me. What could possibly be cooler than having a construction worker for a mom?
I need to go to Target (gift-card action, thanks to
quetzalcoatl_9 and
smoonn) and get a tool belt. Neighbor-Dan bought me a hardhat, hammer, tape measure, and the leather belt-hangers for the hammer and tape. Nice thing about being female: my jeans don't slide off my hips, therefore I won't be sporting "plumber-crack" while working. Christi (Neighbor-Dan's wife) and I joked that I should get some sparkly pink and purple ultra-girly flower stickers for the hardhat. I think I'd better wait until the crew knows me first, or they won't realize it's a joke. (They've already asked Neighbor-Dan if having a "girl" on the crew means they'll have to watch their language.)
