Good Things
Aug. 4th, 2003 10:43 am- They've finished with the road leading to the boys' day camp. I don't have to drive around the long way anymore.
- Malfunction Junction, an intersection of three major roads, is a favorite spot for Jesus Screamers and other bringers of non-consensual "communication." Today, there was a man on the usual corner, but he was not a Jesus Screamer. He had no bullhorn. He had no sandwich-board. His face was painted purple. He was wearing black tights. He had shoulder-length dreadlocks, pulled up into a ponytail on top of his head. He was wearing a black and purple satin harlequin outfit, and was giving the "parade wave" to passing cars, with a huge grin. (I'm choosing to ignore the fact that he's probably advertisement for the carnival going on right now, and counting him as local color.) God, I love Missoula.
- It's cooler. It was 78° when I drove the boys to day camp at 10:00 am. That's a huge improvement.
- It rained last night. Sweet, sweet rain.
- I just talked to the office manager for University housing. Even though it'll make things difficult for them, I can stay as long as I need. They need to get the place painted and rented to someone else, but they're not going to put us on the street. (Now to get funds for paying the rent.)
- My boys have the bestest daycare guy EVAR. Dave is so awesome. All the kids worship him, as do a good portion of the parents. Between Dave and Renfroe, my kids have some kickass men in their lives. Happy, happy!
- I got brave/frustrated/jealous/hot/whatever enough on Saturday to wear just a sports bra and shorts in public. (I'm extremely self-conscious about my tummy, which has really bad stretch marks. It looks better right now, with the extra chub. When I'm thinner, it's all wrinkly and ick.) Renfroe and I took the kids to splash around at the park, and he stripped down to just his shorts. I sat there in my jeans and tee for a while, but couldn't take it anymore. Viva la panza!
- Chai.
- My Goddess Chant CD. (Yes, still listening.)
- Getting rid of crap I don't use or need as I pack. I think the combined "Goodwill" and "throw away" piles are as big as the "packed" pile.
