Yay 'New' Clothes!

I'm wearing a "new" sweater today. I bought it (on hyperclearance for about $5) about a year ago, but despite the "L" on the label it was too small. This is the first time I've been able to wear it. It's a dusty-rose color, 100% rayon (mmmmmm rayon), and has a very open knit and flared 3/4 length sleeves. It has a scoop neck and a little ribbon tie under the bust. It is rather sparsely lined (just a bit o' fabric covering the bust area), so I'm wearing a silk camisole under it.

To review:
  • First time I've been able to wear it.
  • Pink.
  • Rayon.
  • Pretty, pretty, pretty.
  • Hint of sexy which is within 'appropriate work clothing' bounds.
  • Silk camisole.
*is in clothing-heaven*

You *are* a jaw droppingly classic natural beauty, I always thought you were beautiful but this icon picture of you is just... awe inspiring.
I'm sorry, you know by now im no stalker and you don't need to feel creeped out, but I am in Love/lust. I could look at that face all day.
My goodness, you are so beautiful! Sorry for the irrepressible gush!
I have always maintained that in order to be a cute bald chick you gotta have a major abundance of the finest of raw materials, and here's the vindicating proof! A little lipstick and "insta" knockout.
WoW! You be proud. Plus you are all the other things too! (the list is long). What you gonna do with all the wonderfullness? EBAY!
Great boxed set M'dear! Really.

The nice thing about rarely wearing makeup is that when you do, it doesn't take much effort to get a big reaction. ;-)

Oh yes. Way dramatic! No need to gild the lily, but gilded lilys are lovey, aren't they? :)Enjoy it while you can...
...Should be passionatly kissed off in no time at all!

I've been having a brain-melting conversation on the hair boards, where a woman posted about how her husband publicly humiliated her. The response? "Well, you should wear makeup to make him think you're prettier." No joke. At the gagging protest of a number of us, absolutely tons of respondents claimed that makeup is a sign of self-worth and any woman who likes herself wears it. *dies of laughter*

So, my thought process lately? "Do I have time to put some self-worth on this morning? I don't think so. I guess I can't value myself today."

Or, "Damn, I'm out of rosewood self-worth and I don't really like the peach."

Or, "Goddammit! My self-worth is too old and clumping my eyelashes together!"

*boggle* Wow. I... well, I've gotten that before, actually, from my religious leader when wasband #1 and I were having some problems1 (which someone else saw and reported to said religious leader). He suggested that I might spend more time on my appearance. I replied that I spent a lot more time on my appearance at that point than I had when we were dating, and he seemed to like my appearance just fine then.

Huh. Did you reply that you'd been under the impression that makeup was for women who thought they were too ugly to go without camouflage?2

So, have you tried Maybelline's new lip-based self-worth offerings? I'm quite impressed with the texture of a couple.

1. *cough* public entry visible to kids
2. I do not think this. It makes about as much sense as their assertion.

I should point out the link for you, to read for your own amusement. You might like the point where one idio--er, chickie was saying ominously that there will be "lots of sweet women" where the husband works, implying that he'll just move on if she doesn't slather up.

I said, "Dunno where YOU work, but here at MonkeySoft, we're all pit vipers."

'Pit vipers' is now popping up all over the board. Heh.

Very nice! I'll remember the pit vipers bit.

If some guy wants to leave you for someone who spends more time in front of a mirror, good riddance, I say.

But then I'd WAY rather be single than unhappy.

I second [livejournal.com profile] selinawoman on the wow. *smiles*

For a second there I thought your icon was a picture of Audrey Hepburn. The resemblance there is pretty incredible. :)

You know, Katrina and I have very different experiences this way. She hears all the time that she looks like someone or other famous (always someone beautiful, of course); I never, ever, ever hear that I look like anyone, famous or not. No "you look like a person I used to know." No mistaken identity stuff--if someone says they thought they knew me, either they did or they were hitting on me clumsily.

I'm not sure if I'm jealous or not. It must be pretty neat to be compared to women who are considered icons of feminine beauty, but it's also pretty cool to have my face be just mine.

Although I have no idea what makes it so weird that no one can ever think of anyone I resemble. It looks like a fairly normal face to me. One or two of the features as expected, in the normal places and reasonably normal proportions. Some of them a bit pointy, but not exactly outside of human range...

*grin* Forgive the tangent. It has reminded me to pay for my account so I can have an icon of my face again.

I'll second [livejournal.com profile] wandereringray, but qualify it by saying that I think the resemblance comes from (1) the gamine-ish hairstyle, (2) the lipstick, and (3) the photo angle, which emphasizes the vertical rather than horizontal plane of K's face.

*laughs* Well said and much better than I could have.
