Happy Easter to those who celebrate it!

Happy cheap chocolate for everyone!

Happy abundant opportunities for reliving childhood by cackling with glee while biting the heads off bunnies and marshmallow chicks!

Happy Easter!

My roommates were all gone when I woke up this morning. They came back, and I was all "where were you?"

"Church"

"Oh. Right."

*felt a bit dim*

"Happy Easter, where applicable!" is my holiday message.

Offer void where prohibited!

Not valid after 4/16/06!

And they say the holidays have become too commercial.... :)

Mark was whining about not getting to do anything special for Easter.

Me: "Mark, are you Christian?" (Serious question... I'm not, Eliza is, James isn't, Mark may be.)

Mark: *wails* "What's THAT got to do with Easter???"

Me: *coughing fit*

Well, the holiday has been around for a lot longer than Christianity...

[identity profile] kyra-ojosverdes.livejournal.com 2006-04-16 07:39 pm (UTC)(link)
But not necessarily celebrated on this particular day!

[identity profile] wcg.livejournal.com 2006-04-16 08:27 pm (UTC)(link)
No, not the first Sunday after the first full moon after the vernal equinox. That's definitely a Roman Catholic innovation.

Actually it's based on the lunar Jewish calendar.

The part about the first full moon after the vernal equinox is Jewish. The first Sunday bit you can credit to Rome.

By that token, you should be celebrating Passover, too!

He'd be in heaven. He's still miffed that I don't cook latkes for him, three years after a Jewish classmate's mom made some for his first grade class. (I probably should learn how to cook them. Then we could all sit down and eat pancakes together and he'd finally have his dream of A Normal Family.)

How do we know that Easter's here?
Chocolate bunnies do appear!
If Christ had risen twice that year,
We could have more chocolate!
