Pat Buchanan may be a hardcore, right-wing, ultra conservative fundamentalist hatemonger, but he has never been afraid to speak his mind and pull no punches, regardless of the issue. I've had a lot more respect for him since he told the Republican party to shove it and ran as an independent. While I may not agree with many of his views (and find some of them downright disgusting, like his demonizing of immigrants, on top of the typical fundamentalist bullshit), his world view is at least consistant and sincere.

I have lots more respect the open screeds of a hatemonger than secret backroom deals and vapid speeches filled with empty platitudes.
